Fun Facts about the State Fair and Corn Dogs

How many Corn Dogs do you think go through the State Fair of Texas? A lot. In 24 days Fletcher’s, a historic (72 years!) staple of both corn dogs and the State Fair of Texas expects to sell around 630,000 units of crispy fried goodness. To put it in a different verbage, thats

60,000 pounds of hot dogs
21,000 pounds of oil
25 tons(!!!) of cornmeal

I mean, 7 days into the 2014 State Fair of Texas, us here at Thermal Windows have had 4 corny dogs, thus we make up  .0006% of the total volume they expect to give out this year! What makes matters a little more impressive is that they aren’t even the only corny dog vendor at the fair grounds!

Though, as a final takeaway, the great debate between ketchup vs. mustard, continues. They supply and consume over 1,500 gallons of mustard, and only 800 gallons of Ketchup! In fairness, the Fletchers logo prominently displays mustard, but not ketchup, so clearly they’re already mustard supporters. Coming in at only 225 calories, a corny dog might actually be one of the least destructive things you eat out at the fair!
